On February 24, Lithuanian Airports initiated additional risk management tools, related with the outbreak of coronavirus in Italy. All passengers arriving from the airports of Northern Italy to Lithuania shall undergo a health check and consulting – the above services are provided by the professionals and volunteers of the National Public Health Center.

Upon approval of recommendations by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania and the National Public Health Center to adopt additional risk management tools, the passengers arriving to Vilnius Airport from Northern Italy were appointed sector B at the Arrivals terminal. This is the only zone where the security check is carried out to flights arriving from Italy, providing consultations to all passengers without reservations.

The above mentioned passengers are currently being directed to sector B from outside, avoiding traffic via the rest areas of the terminal. The flow of passengers and the baggage traffic is directed this way. Thus, maximum isolation of passenger flows arriving from the increased risk areas is ensured.

The above mentioned measures shall be applied for the whole period, as per recommendations of healthcare professionals.

Additional check of passengers arriving from Northern Italy may take up to 10-15 minutes, therefore this additional waiting time should be considered by those waiting for the passengers at the Arrivals terminal.

As per professional recommendations, starting from today, additional measures to isolate the flows of passengers arriving from Italy shall also be adopted in Kaunas and Palanga airports.
