On 17 October the main duty-free store “Heinemann Duty Free | Travel Value” officially opened in the departure terminal of Vilnius Airport. Opened as a part of the reconstruction works in the commercial zone of Vilnius Airport, this new concept store with a walk-through design will offer more product categories, a wider range of goods and new international brand names. Exceptional attention will be paid to the goods representing Lithuanian brands.

The 850 square meter duty free shop, opened in the renewed commercial zone of Vilnius Airport, was created after the analysis passengers’ growing needs and expectations. This resulted in a decision to offer more categories of goods and to significantly expand the range of products. The travellers will have a choice from a wide range of cosmetics, tobacco and alcoholic beverages to jewellery, toys or gourmet food. In order to make shopping experience more pleasant, the passengers will also be offered fashion and leather goods or accessories such as sunglasses or watches. The products representing new well-known international and Lithuanian brand names have been included into the product range of the store.

“Seeking to have products and goods representing our country, we have agreed with the manager of the store to pay greater attention to Lithuanian products. The area attributed to the Lithuanian brand products was expanded from 90 to 120 square meters. We are extremely pleased that Lithuania products will be more visible from now on,” emphasised Laura Joffė, Executive Director of Lithuanian Airports.

The passengers of Vilnius Airport will be offered the products of such Lithuanian brands as “Dailidesign”, “Julia Janus”, “FumparFum”, “Gintaro pasaulis”, “Rio lindo”, “Unikalu LT”, “Smells like Spells”, “Oda pro”, and others. They will also be able to purchase Lithuanian gastronomic products representing such brands as “MV group”, “Švyturys”, “Vilniaus degtinė”, “Žemaitijos pienas”, “Biovela”, and products of other well-known companies.

When designing “Heinemann Duty Free | Travel Value”, a decision was made to depart from the traditional design of such stores and to introduce a walk-through concept following the example of the biggest and most progressive airports all over the world. From now on the passengers in Vilnius Airport will be able to save their time. The shopping process will be even more convenient and bring more positive impressions because all the desired goods will be available under one roof immediately after passing through the safety check area.

The Executive Director of Lithuanian Airports stated that the vision of the new store was created in close cooperation with the partners from “Gebr. Heinemann SE & Co. KG”. The benefit of the achieved results has been noticed by Gunner Heinemann, one of the owners of the mentioned company.

“Approximately 4.6 million of passengers travelling via this airport every year have an access to a broad selection of goods. The travellers can evaluate a new concept of design, lighting and space which, as we believe, will provide them an excellent shopping experience. This new store shows what great results can be achieved cooperating with a strongly committed and professional partner – the international Vilnius Airport and it confirms our common goal to implement further development,” stated G. Heinemann.

The German store operator “Gebr.Heinemann SE & Co KG”, acting jointly with its subsidiary UAB “Travel Retail Vilnius”, won the tender for opening and running “Duty Free“ stores at the beginning of the year. The new contract was concluded with “Gebr.Heinemann SE & Co. KG” and “Travel Retail Vilnius” for rent of six stores for six years. In July, the company already invited the passengers to the renewed duty-free store in the non-Schengen zone. In total the company will run a commercial area of 1,500 square meters with 63 service staff members in the departure terminal. The Executive Director of Lithuanian Airports points out that cooperation with “Gebr. Heinemann SE & Co. KG” has lasted for more than 10 years; therefore, there are doubts about the standards of high quality, experience, and capacities.

L. Joffė also emphasized that opening of the new “Heinemann Duty Free | Travel Value” is a part of the successfully implemented reconstruction of commercial zones in the terminal of Vilnius Airport.

“The rapidly growing flows of passengers oblige us to enhance efficiency of the terminal. Having increased the size of commercial zone, we can offer our travellers even faster and higher quality service. We are successfully approaching the following stage of Vilnius Airport modernisation. We are carrying out the works seeking to ensure the provision of the highest quality services to our passengers,” says L. Joffė, Executive Director of Lithuanian Airports.

After the completion of all the reconstruction works in the stores, the airports will have invested more than 1 million EUR. Repair works include redesigning the bigger part of areas in the departure terminal behind the aviation safety check area, adding new floor coverings and installing lifts, renovating indoor lighting system and engineering networks.
